Workshop Title: One Day Handbuilding with Your Honey

Day and Time: Friday, July 24th, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Location: The Makery | 317 E Roosevelt Ave, Wake Forest, NC 27587

Instructor: Emily Malpass

Treat your "honey" to a creative day date experience and make something side-by-side in this class for couples! Participants will work on similar-but-separate items to make a coordinating pair of functional clay vessels. No experience is needed and all supplies provided! Pieces will be fired after the class and available for pickup from TJF in August.

Your "honey" does not need to be a romantic partner, but this workshop is structured for pairs, so please add your "honey" to your registration so we have their information, too.

Pre-req: This class is connected to the virtual Interplay: The Art of Creative Movement for Wellbeing class, but all are welcome to join.

Join us as we explore the art of creative self-expression using the interplay of movement, laughter, gesture, storytelling, dance, and noticing. The goal of this interactive experience is to unlock the wisdom of your body in a naturally creative way that’s freeing, fun and inspiring! We are all creative and sometimes we forget this. We all need little reminders to get out of our heads and play! Join us! Facilitated by Artist and Integrative Life and Leadership Coach, Annelies Gentile, MA, PCC of Conduit for Change.

One-Day Macro Photography: Focusing on the Details: All Levels

Date/Time: July 26, 2026; 10AM - 1PM

Location: Golden East Railroad Modelers, 1100 N Wesleyan Blvd, Rocky Mount, NC 27804

Instructor: Ian Slade

This class teaches techniques to capture extreme close-ups of small subjects, revealing intricate details invisible to the naked eye. Course can cover specialized equipment (macro lenses, tubes), lighting, depth-of-field control, and focus stacking, enabling photographers to shoot even the smallest of details.

If you have ever been intimidated to learn to sew on a sewing machine, now is your chance to learn with The Joel Fund! In the no-nonsense class, instructor Grace McFetters Caldwell will take you through the basic mechanics of your sewing machine, then teach you how to use it step-by-step. Students will learn the fundamentals of sewing in an easy to digest project that will boost confidence so they are ready to head home and conquer their own sewing projects!

Spend the day painting an acrylic landscapes and take home a wall ready painting. We will begin with a simple 6x6" landscape to build up confidence and then move into a larger landscape that will leave you feeling ready to conquer more! This is a beginner friendly class.

Owls make the perfect quirky handbuilt garden ornaments to nestle among your fall decor, or give as a unique gift! Come make a duo of owl sculptures using simple handbuilding techniques (pinching, joining, altering, and adding texture). We’ll create them and apply bright, colorful stroke-and-coat glazes directly to your pieces. All levels welcome, no experience needed, and all materials provided. Pieces will be fired for pickup after the class.
